Northern Project Improvement Plan

Project Capacity:

3,591,600 tons per year

Year of Launch:

1404

Progress Percentage:

48%

This project has been designed with the goal of increasing production capacity and improving the quality of petrochemical products in the northern region of the country. Considering the strategic location of this complex near gas resources and access to open waters, a comprehensive plan for developing new units has been prepared.

Main Axes of the Plan:
Construction of an olefin unit with an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tons of ethylene and propylene as the main feedstock for downstream industries, development of polymer units including production lines for polyethylene and polypropylene with various grades, and modernization of existing units to enhance energy efficiency are among the key components of this project.

Competitive Advantages:

  • Access to regional gas resources

  • Export capability through northern ports

  • Application of modern technologies in unit design

Environmental Actions:

  • Installation of advanced wastewater treatment systems

  • Recycling and reuse of chemical solvents

  • Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions through process optimization

Implementation Timeline:
Phase one includes feasibility studies and basic design over 18 months, phase two involves construction and installation of main equipment over 36 months, and phase three encompasses gradual commissioning and operation.

Economic Effects:

  • Creation of 1,200 direct jobs

  • Increase in value-added throughout the petrochemical chain

  • Reduction in imports of polymer products

This project is being carried out in cooperation with domestic companies and international consultants, and it is expected to play a significant role in the industrial development of the region.
